I typically save the boiling points for Robert Fure, aiming instead to frame my column as an observation of media rather than a critique, analyzing trends and their meaning in the context of film and television as an intersecting object of commerce and art. But there is something that has been getting under my skin in some films released in the past several months, and it’s the way that Hollywood deals with the subject infidelity.

This week on the Blu-ray market, I come back from the Sundance Film Festival to an enormous stack of Blu-ray movies ready to be reviewed.

Rob Hunter loves movies. He also loves kicking ass and taking names in Thai restaurants. These two joys come together in the form of cash money payments that he receives every week and immediately uses to buy more DVDs. Not a lot of titles hitting shelves this week, but we do get epic action from exotic lands, love stories in the Big Apple, and zombies across America.

The winning Paranormal Activity continues to roll, and Saw VI will be rolling out, as well as Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant and the reissue of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare before Christmas (in limited release). And we also have Astro Boy.

Fox Searchlight is on fire today — they’ve been lighting up the Reject HQ red phone. First, they sent us details on the highly anticipated release Gentlemen Broncos, and now we’ve got a first look at the poster for another upcoming film, Amelia.

Another biopic enters the social psyche and the race for golden statues reserved for serious dramatic films. I hope this one doesn’t end in tragedy. I really need this one to have a happy ending!

Richard Gere seems to have been making superb career choices lately. Now he plans to keep it up by signing on for two films we should start anticipating as he will be working with some great talents.
