Adrianna Palicki

Two weeks ago, the first official image of Adrianne Palicki in her Wonder Woman costume was released, and the response was less than steller. While I didn’t have the same anger to the costume as others, I did feel that it felt like it came out of  a fetish shop rather than a superhero’s closet. Well, there’s some good news for all the fans who cried foul. The costume has been redesigned! The first official images (courtesy of SFX) of Palicki on set have been released and as you can see, the bottom half of the costume has been drastically altered to give the costume a less cheep feel.

A few week’s ago it was announced that announced that Adrianne Palicki had been cast in David E. Kelley’s new Wonder Woman TV series as the title character. This announcement was met with one of gleeful joy. Palicki is not the standard pick one would think a major company like NBC would make. And today brought us another surprise, but not necessarily in a good way. EW released our first look at Palicki in full costume for the new series, which can be seen to the right. First the positives: I do appreciate that the consume is slightly updated to not be as revealing as it could be, though that top is questionable to say the least. Instead of going for the short skirt, the designer went for a full pants look. That was actually by biggest concern for the costume, because I knew from the get go that the comic book representation of Wonder Woman would never translate into a modern day TV series. Now for the negatives: It’s cheap. And I mean really cheap. I actually wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the designer walked into a fetish shop and just picked up the first thing he saw on the rack and painted it blue and red. Is Palicki a super hero or dominatrix? Because frankly, it could go either way. I don’t see why Wonder Woman has to be in skin tight spandex to be perfectly honest. It’s 2011, no one is going to fault Diana Prince [Due to Content Scraping and Theft, we have been forced to try abbreviated feeds.
