Since we haven’t done this in a while, and since I haven’t slept in four days after starting “LOST” from the beginning, I felt the need to address some new features on the site premiering this week and some cultural trends that are getting us drunk and touching us inappropriately.

You all know the score with Twilight — it’s just a big, long abstinence commercial with sparkly dead bloodsuckers. But thanks to this video from College Humor, we can all now have a laugh.

Remember Twilight? That modestly budgeted movie released last year with vampires and some such? Well, it has officially begun casting for its next round and its bringing on a somewhat bigger name.

As the Oscars have come and gone, and so have the GAG Awards, sponsored by Film School Rejects. These annual awards remember the worst films of 2008.

News coming down the wire last night about a potential buy-out of Summit Entertainment by Lionsgate has sent shockwaves through the online film community this morning. Namely, everyone seems to want to speculate about what the blood-thirsty Execs. over at Lionsgate might do with Summit’s one and only successful property, Twilight.

The young star would, ironically, become the biggest name in the movie series, but we’re pretty sure she can handle being small and creepy.

It is time once again for a special edition of the Reject Report, the 2008 Year in Review! This is our final look at 2008’s box office winners — and our final chance to roast some of the losers.

The folks at the Internet Movie Database, our one and only source of facts about film (we also farm our opinions from the message boards, mind you), have released the list of the Top 25 Most Searched Movies of 2008. Topping the list is… drum roll… The Dark Knight. No surprise there.

Summit Entertainment has set a release date for their Twilight sequel, New Moon. The film will bow November 20th, 2009, the same pre-Thanksgiving weekend occupied by Twilight this year.

Sure, Twilight successfully lowered the bar dramatically when it comes to the quality of bestselling fiction and film. But it also may have put a stop to an unnecessary remake, so that’s a plus.

Yet another easy weekend for those predicting the first place finisher at the box office. Everyone is saying The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008 remake) is going to win. The only question is by how much.

Summit Entertainment is looking for a director to appeal to teenagers and they may have found their man, Chris Weitz, who helped direct American Pie.

We begin the week with an awesome video from Spooky Dan Walker, who has decided to improve Twilight by remaking it with puppets. Brilliant.

Word is getting around this evening that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has been cut loose from the franchise.

The order of finish this weekend at the box office looked very much like last weekend at the box office, with Four Christmases winning again with $18 million.

In an attempt to avoid Daniel Radcliffe syndrome — whereas a young star gets stuck in the tween franchise that propelled them to stardom — Twilight star Kristen Stewart is reaching out and grabbing another potentially high profile role by signing on to play Joan Jett in The Runaways.
