Steve Niles is very quickly becoming one of the hottest writers out there. Just recently Steve partnered with Microsoft to pen a comic for their Zune Arts division called The Lost Ones.

Time to take a look at what DVDs are worth spending some cash on this week. Don’t worry, we will do it together.

Aside from keeping things organized around here, I am also obligated as the Editor to give you my picks for the Ten Best Films of the Year. So let’s do this thing!

Welcome to what is shaping up to be a fairly grizzly weekend at THE REJECT REPORT. This week we have two new movies going wide across America — the return of SAW IV, and the return of Steve Carell in Dan in Real Life. And Owen Wilson comes back from the almost-dead.

I predicted it would be a Comeback Week for predictions at The Reject Report, and guess what? The number one movie of the week, 30 Days of Night, I nailed bang-on. The number two movie, Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married, I also nailed bang on. So it was a great week predicting the top movies. There’s just one problem: I got everything else wrong. Again.

Well, it’s Halloween, and there are scant few horror films in the theaters. However, films like Things We Lost in the Fire and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford are scarier than anything else on the screen because they’re bore you to death. We can’t help you with boredom from Oscar bait, but we can help ease the pain from Alaskan vampires.

I had a chance to sit and hang out with good friend of the site, and creator of 30 Days of Night, Steve Niles. Steve has had his hand in alot of projects recently, namely the adaptation of his ground-breaking graphic novel to the screen. Steve teamed with director David Slade to create one of the best vampire films in many years. I have already had a chance to see the film, and you can check out what I had to say here. For those of you who haven’t had a chance to see it, let’s see what Steve had to say.

The cornerstone of this year’s Screamfest film festival in lovely Los Angeles was the much anticipated 30 Days of Night from ever present comic scribe Steve Niles and brought to the screen by David Slade, who is riding his last film Hard Candy straight to the top.

Welcome to my Comeback Week at the Reject Report. Well, at least I hope it’s a comeback week for me with my predictions, since I’ve been getting them wrong lately. And I hope it’s a comeback week for the overall box office as well. But I doubt it. The general feeling among all the box office prognosticators is that all the studios dumped their flop movies on us this very week.

Director David Slade’s vampire thriller, based on the groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith has not even hit theaters yet and we are already talking seriously about a sequel.

Actress Melissa George called 30 Days of Night director David Slade a “modern-day Hitchcock.” We’ll say this: he did make one intense, scary ass flick.

At the end of the week 30 Days of Night will begin scaring the hell out of audiences in America. For now, this clip will suffice for some sleepless nights.
