The Weekend Cheat Sheet: April 11th

Need a date movie? A popcorn flick? A thriller? We’ve got you covered — and we’ve got you in and out faster than you can say “Hey, those Film School Rejects really know what they are talkin’ about…”

Box Office: Ouch! George Clooney Gets Sacked

It was DEFINITELY not such a good weekend at the theaters for George Clooney — or for any of the movies at the box office, really. The only movie that really held up its own was 21. That was the surprise Number One movie at the box office for the second weekend in a row.

21 Movie Review

21 galvanizes you from frame one and never lets go. It’s the most entertaining movie about Sin City in recent memory; right up there with Ocean’s Thirteen.

Box Office: 21 More Super than Superhero Movie

Well, it seems Americans may have some taste in movies after all. Superhero Movie, well, was not so super after all. The winning movie this weekend was the gambling pic 21, beating out Horton Hears a Who! and Superhero Movie.

21 Movie Review

While the actual concept and events in the film are real, they have been so gussied up with glitz and flash that we lose the essence of the drama. It tries to be as slick and as cool as an MTV music video, but it completely busts. [Grade: C]

Fat Guys at the Movies: Episode 58 - Run Fat Guys Run

On This Week’s Show: We get Stop-lossed by a few bad movies, including one that was made under the MTV Films label (Stop-Loss) and another that might as well have been (21). Oh, and there is another stupid parody movie coming out — we take a moment to explain the pile of suck that is Superhero Movie.

Anyone who has ever been to Vegas knows that you get free drinks at the blackjack tables. And while this will cloud your mind and hinder you in counting cards, free drinks would be great in a movie like 21.

Reject Report: Superheroes, Fanboys, and Fat Boys

As fanboys across the country mobilize for a protest against the Weinstein Company and their release Superhero Movie, everyone else will be out there trying to pick something to see this weekend. Will the protests stop the big parody from taking the top spot? We have our doubts.

Movie Style Guy: Stay on 17

Today, I’m teaching you how to run the house. Sort of. Ok, not really. The deck is still stacked against you, but in honor of 21 we’re going to quickly go over the rules of the game.

Must See Trailer: MIT Students Play for ‘21′

A group of MIT students take the concept of card counting to a whole new level in this seemingly sharp witted, fast-paced heist flick.
