31 Days of Horror: House on Haunted Hill (1959)
31 Days of Horror By Cole Abaius on October 13, 2011 | Comments (2)When the calendar page turns to October, we Rejects have only one thought: horror. To celebrate this grandest and darkest of months, we’ll cover one excellent horror film a day for the entirety of the month. That’s 31 Days of Horror and 31 Films perfect for viewing on a dark, chilly, October night. If you, like us, love horror and Halloween, give us a Hell Yeah and keep coming every day this month for a new dose of adrenaline. Synopsis The sardonic millionaire Frederick Loren (Vincent Price) is throwing a party for his fourth wife Annabelle (Carol Ohmart), but this isn’t just any party. He’s invited five strangers into an ancient mansion with a troubled past, a ton of ghosts, and a few people bent on murder. Whoever survives the night gets $10,000 and their life to take home with them.
Every Sunday, Film School Rejects presents a movie that was made before you were born and tells you why you should like it. This week, Old Ass Movies presents the story of two star cross’d lovers who find themselves miles and years away from their origin. A retelling of the tragic Orpheus and Eurydice tale, Black Orpheus ditches the classical Greek setting and opts instead for the rich sights and sounds of Brazil during Carnaval. It’s a beautiful story set to unending drum-beats and a madness to which everyone succumbs.
Don’t Take Your Bedroom Problems Out on the Vintage Trailer of the Day
Features By Cole Abaius on January 21, 2011 | Comments (2)Every day, come rain or shine or internet tubes breaking, Film School Rejects showcases a trailer from the past. Most in this generation don’t even know what a party line is (or they think it’s something political) but a party line was right in the heart of the concept for this film. The trailer promises some great Doris Day singing, a sad sack Tony Randall, and Rock Hudson lying through his teeth to get the girl. You just can’t beat that. Think you know what it is? Check out the trailer after the jump.
The Vintage Trailer of the Day Paints Your Submarine Pink
Features By Cole Abaius on December 11, 2010 | Be the First To CommentEveryday, come rain or shine or internet tubes breaking, Film School Rejects showcases a trailer from the past. Today’s trailer looks for the comedy in placing a bunch of women on a Naval submarine. Egads, think of the scandal! Cary Grant tries to avoid strangling Tony Curtis, and we learn the valuable lesson that “when a girl is under 21, she’s protected by law. When she’s over 65, she’s protected by nature. Anywhere in between, she’s fair game.” Think you know what it is? Check out the trailer after the jump.
