A Prophet is as gripping as any recent film about crime and criminals, although its ill-focused attempts to incorporate elements of the supernatural (prophetic visions and ghostly apparitions) are bizarre and ineffective.

interesting to hear your view. for me this was my favourite movie of 2009. I thought it was a brilliant examination of character and development in a terrible situation. The moments of brutality punctuated the humdrum prison and were balanced with the spiritual/supernatural aspects - i wanted to watch it again as soon as it finished. Rahim is one to watch and was extraordinary considering that this is his first starring role.
