Just saw the movie, never read the book. Just trying to understand how Henry was able to travel to the future if during the whole movie he was only able to travel back to the past. The ending henry is 39 and he travels to a time where he was already dead for 4 years. Just trying to better understand the movie. Thanks

I am tempted to see the movie. I read the book and found the writing to be very good. I was not one of the "mob mentality" to buy the top sellers as the other poster implied for the books success. I fear, as one who knows the story line I may be let down for how the film industry took the book and edited the script to screen. The original story would have given it a higher MPAA rating had they followed the book to form. Rather from the reviews and trailers I have seen so far they white washed it slightly to allow a broader audience in, and greater ticket sales.

I read a summary of the book and sounds mighty depressing.

Also, the thing about time travel is this - you get do-overs! Granted in this he can't control his time travel, but surely at some point, knowing his own future, in the past he can give a heads up to someone like "Hey, be at X with Y at Z."

Yes, the book is a bestseller for a reason: mob mentality. It's pretentious, crude, overwritten twaddle in the "best" "The Notebook" tradition.

Do yourself a favor: read the book. It's sad that the movie is so disappointing, but your description of the film is nothing like the book, which is a bestseller for a reason.
