I enjoyed the film and the non-linear concept and storylines. But I thought the performances by the young actors, J.D. Pardo and the actress in the role of young Mariana, were especially good. I thought they were raw, naive, innocent, complicated and simple all in appropriate places. Young Mariana's reaction to the fire was especially good and well-paced. I didn't really care about Basinger's character because I had no understanding of why she was having an affair in the first place. Theron's performance was also good, and I appreciated it even more when the plotlines finally came together because I understood the character's choices. I too think I might get even more from the film if I saw it a second time. I wanted the film to go on another five minutes or so to see the reunion of Santiago and Mariana.

Oh, sweetie: use a thesaurus all you want, but it won't mask the fact that you're not particularly bright.
