Some Constructive criticism — Watch the movie twice. He is not shirtless at the airport. Another funny scene not mentioned in your review is the “be cool” moment in the car while the cops are flashing their lights to pull them over. Any scene with Ramón Rodríguez aka Lupe is sidesplitting. The movie deserves more credit than you give it. I give your review a C.

!!!!GREATEST SURFING MOVIE EVER!!!!
No other surfing movie I have seen translates to the audience what we see in this movie. The way we feel when there isn’t a single wave on the coast and must find something else to do. This movie reminds me of The Big Lebowski in the way that almost everyone does not appreciate it … but like a new born child who opens his eyes for the first time and marvels at what he sees so will you one day my friends … so will you.

so true. I watched this movie a couple times before moving to the beach and once i moved here i wanted to learn how to surf and this movie actually made me want to surf. I don't understand why people expect movies like this to have a competition at the end to end the feud between 2 people; does that stuff happen in real life: the answer is no. this movie is just relaxing. i watch it all the the time

This movie is about simplicity of life being threatened by too much greed. Our American life has decayed so far out of simplicity that there's now a whole generation that has no idea what a simple life is like. No wonder so many people don't get this movie!

I surf and have for 20 years. I know a lot more surfers who are like these guys than aren't! All these guys whining about this not “being real” in regards to surfing need to lighten up a bit. Surfing used to be a lot of fun until it became mainstream and overcrowded. That's why I usually paddle over to the next peak to get away from the crowds even if it's not as good.

No wonder the damn movie was straight to DVD. Matthew sometimes can't be a leading actor (in my book) he should be casted as one of those big budget flick with different cast ensemble (i.e. Fool's Gold and Tropic Thunder). I don't mind seeing Boobs and other things but do you think it is worth my Blockbuster Rental? Don't waste my time.
