GTFOH…have any of you guys really seen the movie? Granted, Spike can be a major asshole but I don’t think Turturro…who’s a pretty good actor (Italian)would really be a friend, and regular in his movies?

The film was outstanding…cinematography…locations…dialogues..it was a great movie. His best…but what does a bunch of frickin film school rejects know, you boys are just posers.

Spike is the real deal….

I think the biggest problem with this film isnt Spike Lee’s portrayal of African Americans, or his personal ‘intervention’ in its message, but the fact that the massacre takes a secondary role in all of this and no one seems to be debating the atrocities the SS were responsible for.

A film like this does need sensitivity and bringing the events to the worlds attention is a good thing, it would just be nice if thats why it is remembered and not for being a Spike Lee Racial issue film.

I haven’t seen the movie, but it looks like quite an achievement from the promos. At the same time, Spike Lee should have been more responsible. If he wanted to do a film on a fictitious traitor – he shouldn’t have used a real historical event and location as a background. In doing so he has offended many people and distorted history. At the very least, he should include a trailer that indicates the script is drama and not historical fact.

Spike Lee is an extraordinarly overrated film maker. She’s Gotta’ Have It remains his most entertaining film.

Regarding simple facts, US forces sufferred 425,000 military deaths during the 2nd World War. Of that number, 705 were Black Americans. Black Americans were involved in very little combat during the course of the war, serving mainly as support personal. This says nothing about Blacks beyond their being discriminated against.

I certainly don’t want to get into the argument about the veracity of the film or James
McBride’s excellent novel, but I would just like to note that my novel, “The Cielo: A Novel of
Wartime Tuscany,” also describes the massacre at Sant’Anna. I’m pleased that this horrific
event is getting attention.

Sounds pretty bad.
All I can say is when you do something out of spite and revenge its gonna show.
Spike sures comes off like a pretty frustrated (at the world) guy….
