Someone actually handknit all of Coraline's sweaters and gloves. That level of patience and devotion to detail always blows my mind. On her website, she has photographs of sweaters she patterned after designs on Grecian urns. That's just crazy…

I'm not saying I didn't enjoy this movie, but seriously, I could never give it an 'A' as you have here. I realize that this may be a "kids movie" (while there are certain parts that are quite inappropriate for younger audiences), but the dialog and the overall script could have been much better. I cringed at all the moments where the character of Coraline described her thoughts and emotions as if talking to herself. What could have been shown through a look or facial expression, was instead spoken through on-the-nose dialog that detailed the obvious all too often. Not only that, but the structure of the final act of this film was so obviously laid out, and the audience had to be reminded of it through the dialog of the characters. Even in earlier parts of the film, the story almost became a bit repetitive at times, due to it's traditional structure of storytelling. There's nothing wrong with that; it just could have been dealt with much better in the script. And that's where this movie fails in my mind; no visuals are strong enough to allow myself to completely ignore the obvious problems with the screenplay, and I'm surprised I don't see anyone mentioning them. It's an enjoyable film, but it is by no means, not without its faults.

I had high expectations for this movie and it did not disappoint. I loved this film and the RealD experience was fabulous. I think it'll play well without and plan to catch another showing to find out. I've been recommending this movie all weekend to everyone.

This was an awesome experience in 3D. Been waiting for a stop motion film like this to come out for years! The "making of" has been on HBO and it was great to see all the hard work and dedication they had for the film. It def showed. A mut see!

Kudos to the new animation studio Laika for their dedication. It really shows in this film, above and beyond Pixar if you ask me (even though I'm in love with Pixar). It was a refreshing to experience the flick in RealD, because like it's title, it felt real. It felt as if the characters were there, the puppets were there, the models were there. Not flying at you, but as if you were looking at the movie through a Viewmaster toy. I only wish movies can feel this fresh and be this beautiful.
