5:00am - IMAX. 7:30am - Denny's.

Worth it.

I am not what you'd call a huge fan of Batman or comics in general, but I like movies.
Even more than that, I like art. I like the exploration of the possibilities of an idea, and
this movie captured something not seen is this genre since Tim Burton's first Batman
film.

I had seen the first 6 minutes on in the internet like most of you, but seeing it in an
IMAX theater was much more intense, and the following hours were even more so. The
stunts (glad there wasn't much CGI, if any) were all fantastic and perfectly done. The
script was great, and those chosen for the roles, truely nail everything they were given.
Specifically, Heath Ledger deserves something for his "Joker", which in my opinion
should not be re-done in any form of a live action batman, and Ekhart's "Two-Face" is
just as notable. The detail given to both is perfect, and left me really enjoying the
characters much more than anyone else in the film. Bale's role as Batman/Bruce Wayne
was engaging as well, portraying the latter dead-on. While his batman is great, the
pitch-shifted voice effects were over-the-top to the point of cheesy. Everyone else, save
a few minor roles, were great. Morgan Freeman and Michale Cain are gauranteed great
actors as is Maggie Gyllenhaul (fuck that spelling).

The only problems I had were the above mentioned Batman voice and certain plot
points and wasted characters that I feel could have been written out a bit more detailed.
Otherwise, definitly the best Batman movie and comic book based movie made so far.
I'd even consider it more than just a "comic book movie", and say it is as complex and
psychologically interesting as films like, "Seven", Nolan's "Momento", and "Fight Club". I
rank it in my top 20 films.

9/10

Great movie. Opt for the IMAX version.
Only movie, so far, to convince me to buy an HD-DVD Player.

Great review, Neil. The film is getting rave reviews all over the place (only three critics haven't liked it until now according to Rotten Tomatoes) and I'm sure I won't be disappointed by it.

To nevernude: I find it really weird that it's been released a week after the USA in the UK, and that in Peru it's been released on whole day BEFORE the US... this kind of thing doesn't happen too often, to say the least.

Good review, by the way.

Can I just say how much better the writing is on this site than on slashfilm? Hunter Stephenson is an awful, awful writer, whereas nobody here has a grating writing style.

So thank you, FSR, for not hiring any Hunter Stephensons.
