Excellent. A great, great movie. I saw it last night at a special screening and must say it was a tour de force. Even though Boston is not really a gritty town Scorsese was able to capture a darker side of the city. Coming from that area, I am always concerned when actors put on the local accent as it tends to be distracting rather than supportive. However, with local pros like Damon and Wahlberg they were able to really grab hold of it and not go overboard... most of the time. The true stand out performance has to go to DiCaprio.

It was exciting seeing Scorcesse direct such a fast paced edgy film like The Departed. Leo also wowed me in this film--making up for Aviator. He didn't look as young boyish in this flick. My boyfriend's heart was beating fast and his palms were sweaty from the suspense in this film. I appreciated not knowing what was coming next too. However, I wasn't very impressed with Alec Baldwin, in fact did he even need to be in the film? I like that he does cool cameo like spots lately like this and Along Came Polly but I feel that it's a bit of a waste though.

Hey, Brian, awesome review! Now I am more psyched than ever to see this film!

Do we finally have a great piece of cinema for 2006? It only took them over nine months!
