hahaha you were kinda harsh on your Jennifer's Body review, but i probably will agree once i see it.. theres already people i know telling me it sucked.. and as a girl its gonna be kind of a stupid moment for me to watch the 2 lead actresses make out if its not significant to the story (but i'll still see it) is it true that she shows her boobs in this movie?

What you have to realize, though, is that the "higher quality" films you mentioned are the best of the best. A lot of crap was around when you were little, it just got forgotten. Plus, some of the stuff you liked as a kid was probably crap. Was TMNT or Power Rangers really that great? And the new generation has Pixar, who are making some of the best movies of all time, kids or otherwise. I'm not necessarily completely disregarding what you're saying, but just taking it with a grain of salt.

just busting your balls Kevin...I agreed with your review on Informant just got back from seeing it...it felt average for Steven Soderbergh standards

although I don't agree with allowing your children to be poisoned by viewing trash like Alvin & The Chipmunks...I miss the higher level of quality of family films that were shown to us growing up...Jurassic Park, E.T. , Goonies...ect

I really love the report card. It's a hell of a way to get a slew of movie reviews quickly. But yeah, this week is a bit of a slum. I just can't get excited about Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. Trailer didn't draw me in, I guess. The Informant! looks interesting though, so I'm optimistic about that.

P.S. Megan Fox isn't that hot. Marisa Tomei & Christina Hendricks are way hotter. Just sayin'.

Check out some of my other reviews, and you'll find that I like horror films (like The Collector earlier this year and even last week's Sorority Row). I can appreciate them, but Jennifer's Body was just awful.

Same goes for family films, though there are plenty that I don't like. But Kangaroo is right that I tend to like movies better if they're geared towards my kids and they like them (e.g., Alvin and the Chipmunks & G-Force).

Funny though... I didn't even take my kids to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and still loved it.

and PS - iCarly's a hell of a show... :-P

I kind of figured Jennifer's Body would be getting a C or lower from most critics. It doesn't really give us anything knew and I am not a fan of Megan Fox's acting so I am sure we are on the same page there.
I just hope when you review Zombie Land next month you'll be pleasantly surprised and we'll have a good horror movie in the cinemas for once.

A perception on a film can be influenced by outside forces, including wife/husband and kids. I know many people who like films because their kids do. It brings them joy to see their spouse or kids enjoying themselves.

I don't remember the last horror film that had the combo of warmth and heart..lol it's a horror film it's meant to be fun not high art...Carr I love how you praise films that you can watch with you're children but everything else can be put through the wood chipper...I really do feel sometimes you're out of touch when it comes to genre films or films geared to adults
