i liked bale’s performance – he is, as usual, criminally underrated. it felt SO dylan-esque, and yet, not dylan, because its ‘jack rollins’… felt like he nailed the part. and the preacher dylan was spot on – strung out, a little confused. he is playing 2 lesser known dylans, whereas cate blanchett’s dylan is the most easily recognisable one, and notably, the closest dylan came to being a caricature of himself. appropriate than that this generation, with a fondness for simulacra, swoons for a great but at times hollow dylan interpretation (blanchett) because she is pulling off ‘woman looks like a man’. thats mainly why i wanted to comment on your review – at least it doesnt plagiarise other INT reviews, but women playing men, vice versa, not that impressive. happening since shakespeare. remember mrs doubtfire? robin williams kinda did really look act sound like an old lady… is that a masterpiece too? bale’s acting too subtle for people to notice i thought… and his ‘dylan yet not dylan’ approach right over people’s heads.

I read a review by one of your colleagues on this site a few weeks ago and he LOVED the film. Nice to see you guys aren’t ‘rubber stamping’ approval. Refreshing.

But if you went to the film, you mist like Bob. If that’s true, then let me introduce you to my new novel (hopefully you’ll enjoy it more than than the Haynes film).

It’s called BLOOD ON THE TRACKS. It’s a murder-mystery. But not just any rock superstar is knocking on heaven’s door. The murdered rock legend is none other than Bob Dorian, an enigmatic, obtuse, inscrutable, well, you get the picture…

Suspects? Tons of them. The only problem is they’re all characters in Bob’s songs.
