I enjoyed this film a lot. It's clearly a controversial time in Germany's history, and the film manages to stay unbiased while still being very exciting and engaging.

I thought it was a pretty good film. It really did start well, but I think they could have cut about 15-20 minutes of the prison scenes. It just dragged on until its anti-climactic ending. The setup for the film (backstories, character development) was some of the most intriguing I'd seen in a while. It was well done, and I found myself wishing the film had really kept up the pace.

I also loved The Lives of Others. There have been quite a few great german films of the past few years (we don't get a lot of them in Nashville) that I've had to netflix, but Baader-Meinhof and The Lives of Others both came here and the theatres were pretty busy when they were here.

I also have to say that I would have thought there were quite a few talented german-speaking actors in Europe. I am beginning to tire of seeing the same actors in the best german films. I Keep seeing the same (older) actors in all of them.

funny enough, Martina Gedeck who played Meinhof was in both films...I just think it's the best showcase for young German talent, the cast was massive...they had new actors in every scene all gave great performances even if it was like a few lines...plus the action scenes rival a lot of American films

the crazy thing is that this isn't fiction like Heat was...they take a few things out of context to make an entertaining film...I thought it was as honest as they could be with the subject matter, luckly it was made in Germany...if Americans got a hold of it they would been made out to be either total monsters or folk-heroes...they were just misguided kids who took things way too far..I think the film points that out perfectly

Those images look like Heat. Leather jackets, awesome guns. Sounds almost like Heat too, in that there is 45 minutes of good shoved into a bloated movie.

Oh it's definitely worth sitting through, but it's just less interesting and engaging than the first half. And The Lives of Others was fantastic.

Agreed on the movie's slow release in the states, although it did see a very limited theatrical rollout over the summer so I'd expect a DVD announcement soon. Maybe...

I have to agree about the last hour or so focusing on the prison...but it did lead to those kidnapping and embassy action scenes so it was worth sitting through...it's up there with The Lives of Others for me as some great German cinema

I'm just disappointed that this movie was released in 2008 and managed an Oscar nomination but still hasn't been released on DVD in North America....it was already released in the UK back in April...
