Hmmm, I expect that one to be the more dramatic of the two with far less action. Have you heard if production has even started yet? I'm intrigued...

Wong Kar Wai is also doing an Ip Man biopic called Grand Master, starring Tony Leung. It will be interesting to see the differences between this film and that.

Ip Man did not flee Fushan during the Japanese occupation. Anyone interested in the real Ip Man should start with real man's Wikipedia entry. I think you'll find the only accurate fact in the movie is that he may have once known someone who owned a cotton mill. From a general read around the internet regarding this man, it appears as though in reality the only real claim to fame he has is that Bruce Lee trained with him (for a few years back when BL was a teenager). At best, I would say that he was a good teacher of Wing Chun. He certainly did not participate in BL's later development as a martial artist or Jeet Kun Do nor is there any evidence that he himself was a good fighter. He did not create Wing Chun (which was invented by a woman) and it does not seem as though he ever departed form or contributed to the development of Wing Chun as the movie suggests (there were many other Wing Chun teachers in Fushan and later on in Hong Kong). Therefore this movie is no more a biography than Ong Bak. A great movie, but don't walk away thinking you just received a history lesson. I doubt the Japanese general even existed, that there were any competitions or that he could and did beat up 10 guys!

In the movie Donnie Yen is also supported by Simon Yam, who is an excellent actor (and does no fighting). And these 2, along with director Wilson Yip, have made just as good (if not better) martial arts movies such as "SPL" and "Flashpoint", in my opinion. If you like IP Man, you should check these other ones out!

I agree... I wasn't being sarcastic when I called it Cohen's one good film. I'm not a stickler for accuracy in biographical films (obviously) so I appreciated the mix of drama and action. The same for Ip Man actually...

I liked Rob cohen's Dragon:The Bruce Lee story, even though same major things were changed to give the movie some "action", it's still good to me.
