The movie has profound moments and inspiring performances, however, it may require another viewing to fully grasp what was going on. I am not sure if I can sit through the movie again.

I thought the movie was too long. By about twenty minutes. It got sloppy and sappy toward the end and the sentiment, while certainly noble, made me want to roll my eyes. Hoffman was amazing of course, and it was fun to see such famous actors pop up unexpectedly. And it was interesting to try to figure out what was real and what wasn't real. But Kaufman really needed to snap up the pace a bit.

Thank you for not beginning your review with a definition of synecdoche. That seems to be the trend. Totally agree with your review.
