First Bloody Pics From ‘Rec 2′ And ‘H2′

Posted by Rob Hunter (rob@filmschoolrejects.com) on February 26, 2009

Two horror movies, one awesome and terrifying, the other severely flawed, are expecting sequels later this year. The first pics from the upcoming films have shown up over at Shocktillyoudrop, but we’ve combined a few for you here.

First up is Rec 2, the follow-up to the Spanish original (that received a fairly faithful albeit unnecessary US remake called Quarantine). The first film was a kinetic bloodbath at times and featured one of the scariest goddamn scenes ever viewed through night vision. The sequel is being helmed by the same directors and sees the return of the very fine female lead, Manuela Velasco. One appears to be from a magazine,

Rec2 - What the Hell is happening here?

Rob Zombie’s sequel to his remake of Halloween has also released a pic via his MySpace blog, this one presumably of Laurie Strode mere moments after the first film’s conclusion. I wasn’t a big fan of Zombie’s film… the grown-up Michael was violent and dark, but the made-for-TV melodrama that preceded his appearance was boring as hell (and that little blonde girl that grows up to be Michael was pretty damn annoying too). Here’s the pic:

Are you excited about either of these sequels?

  • Judging from that pic, H2 could be a remake of Halloween 2. Why else release a picture of Laurie in the hospital? It looks as though this might just pick up right away and go with it, like the first sequel. Strange choice.
  • I have yet to see Rec but I will deal with that soon enough.

It seems the majority of people have not favored Zombie's remake of Halloween, I don't necessarily blame them either. I did however like the remake and thought it had some quality scares, yes it was flawed but it was the best Halloween in a long time for me. I will be open about my opinion about the next one.
  • Rec 2 is going to be great...I thought the original was so amazing...when they made Quarantine it really was offensive that they would just make a shot for shot copy....I'm just kind of wondering how or why they have another camera p.o.v. in the second one...the teaser trailer was enough to get me excited though

Halloween 2 on the other hand could go either way...Zombie is good at exploitation but when it comes to dialog and directing actors with their lines it's hard to watch....I enjoy swearing as much as the next person but you can't have your characters use f-bombs every other sentence... no matter how "red-neck" you want them to appear...as long as we see Myers killing and less of those awful flashbacks it will be entertaining...the prequel aspect would have worked better as just an opening or a montage... of course it's all to give his wife Sheri Moon more work in the end...so we'll have to suffer more flashbacks at least it will feature more naked Sheri
  • I'm sure there was pressure on Zombie to make this sequel or he wouldn't be able to get T-Rex or Werewolf Women made....as long as it's fun, gory and has more kills I'll be happy

[REC] is a gem of horror filmmaking. Esp since its not an American film. USually blows in horror genre. Japanese and Spanish films have done well with it. It is def worth watching and I too am excited for the second film. And Im not even a huge horror fan. But i cant take another Rob Zombie film. Never scary but brutally gory. Eh...

    Oh, Halloween 2...

When you said H2, i thought you meant a sequel to that asian serial killer flick "H" from a couple years back...
  • So excited for [REC]2. However, I think that this picture (the first one) is just a picture they threw together from the original [REC]. The girl looks like the same girl who was sick in the original. And the people who supply the pictures for magazines/newspapers are kind of notorious for ....screwing up. But the second one looks pretty legit. I'm so excited! I hope it sees a release in the US, in NYC at least.
