Lee is totally just with his criticism. He didn’t say anything about changing historical accuracy, hes positing that in all of the soldiers in the film (not those in the iconic pics) there had to be a couple black folks. Eastwood spins his comments to make them seem totally ridiculous and comes off as a total racist.

Lee is hardly racist by expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of black people in Eastwood’s films (how is that racist?). Also, white people telling (and controlling the framing of) black peoples stories is a legitimate conflict that exists in the world. One of the few notable Black directors talking about this makes complete sense. There is a reason why there are so few in the world today.
