Actually, in POA, Ron makes several comments about Hermione just "showing up" out of nowhere and how she it taking too many classes for one person (two or three being at the same time). Also in at least one point of the film, you can SEE the Time Turner around her neck. I believe it's during the introduction of the hippogriff. Not a complete cop-out, but done much better in the book.

I must admit that the brutal blood soaked French flick Haute Tension (High Tension) was scaring the shit out of me until the end, with a pointless "twist" that left me feeling cheated.

Tron,

First off, there is no character in Dodgeball named "Dwight", is name is WHITE Goodman. He even spells it at one point in the movie "I'm White, W H I T...E", so this mistake is slightly inexcusable.

I also watched the "original ending" on the DVD, and while it is definitely more shocking and possibly more fitting, it just felt like a big middle finger to the audience. I thought the new editing, while sappy, was just more fun and fit better with the rest of the movie. Plus, how can you bag on a movie that openly admits to using Deux ex Machina?

For Dodgeball, the filmmakers were forced by the studio to do that. Originally (its on the DVD) Dwight wins and thats the end. Its a story of the "underdog" and Dwight is actually the underdog. he's the one who was fat, got into shape and opened a successful gym. Peter is a lazy bum who deserves nothing. That was the twist and why it was called "A True Underdog Story." Unfortunately dumb America didn't like it and during test screenings they were forced to change it. That's why during the credits we see Ben Stiller in a fat suit and says something along the lines of "America doesn't like complexity in their films! They just want to be entertained!" The movie, while still very underrated, would have been such a better film if the original twist had been left in. Unfortunately, America is dumb

Had they introduced the Time Turner early on, it wouldn't have been a cop out, and while I'm all for a huge T-Rex send off, it's still a cop out.
