the movie wasn`t transformers, it was dumb-ass fucking robots fighting for a planet, it hardly made sense. i don`t know. i`m older now, so why would i just abandon nostalgia that i actually still enjoy, it wasn`t just a toy line, sure people bought the toys, but they didn`t just sit around. kids played with them and made up their own stories, it basically was an imagination excercise for most. so the toy line defense is bullshit, transformers rocked 100X balls. but the 2007 movie licked my right and left testicle in terms of being a transformers movie. the 86 animated was way awesome. at least way more than this movie. fuck, they should have called it. “changing robots that can be killed by humans“. then i would not be mad at all. i just would`ve laughed. the old characters had heart, and when autobots died they were genuinely sad. kids cried when optimus died in the animated movie VERY early on. and was still bad-ass to the fucking core. the humor was ridiculous but at the same time fresh and original. when ironhide died (was it ironhide). the characters couldn`t have had less emotion. it was pathetic. i read somewhere some kid readied a slip-knot when optimus said “my bad“. i think. i`ll go do that. talk about killing a franchise. no transformers fan in their right mind would ever willingly hope michael bay would direct a movie about their favourite cartoon. and the writers my sweet fuck, we can`t forget them, half of this was their doing..

You left out advertising and distribution costs, which occur in post production, and in an unusual accounting move, studios charge themselves interest on the money spent, so it takes a long while for money to be recouped.

At one time the vast majority of people thought the world was flat, so that’s not necessarily a plus for Bay. His movies are always poorly put together visually and the stories are flawed, but if loud noises and shiny objects entertain you, good for you. In the “good” versus “entertaining” debate, I would argue that I personally have not found a single Michael Bay movie (aside from TRANSFORMERS) to be in the least bit entertaining. I never saw BAD BOYS II but I did see the original and can honestly say I hated every minute of it. I saw PEARL HARBOR and the only reason I didn’t leave the theater is because I wanted to see just how much worse it could get. Just when I thought the damn thing couldn’t possibly get any worse, the horrible ending came along. The whole thing was like rubbernecking while passing a car wreck.
