I think that having Speilburg involved at all in the Halo movie is scary. He has done great things but he produced Transformers and it was garbage. Halo needs to be an intelligent film with a plot.

Did you see 'War of the World'? I agree, Speilberg is my boy and has done many great things in the past, but he doesn't know what he is doing with sci-fi. And even then, I think his name has gotten too big for him to care anymore. Neil beat the panties off my girl friend with 'District 9' (who hate's sci-fi, action, and everything good), and the fact that he is new to the game means that he will try hard every time to produce quality and build a fan base. I hope Spielberg produces (he did a decent job with 'Transformers') but that he doesn't direct 'Halo'.

I can't really say if Neil Blomkamp would suit for this movie until I see District 9 this Friday. If District 9 turns out to be as amazing as I see it in the trailers, then it would be best to have Neil Blomkamp directing the movie so that the studio could save a few millions on the production considering the fact that Neil doesn't ask as much money as Steven. More money saved means more money put into making the movie and therefore better results. Atleast that's what I like to think :p

I've heard from more than one site that District 9's CGI was rrrrushed and done on a budget to beat Avatar to the punch. District 9 will be good but not a way to judge Blomkamp.

I don't think I heard a single negative criticism about these when they first came out. These are really old and really got everyone excited, mostly all the fanboys...I think they were all onboard...I think when he was initially named people had the negative reaction but as soon as these came out everybody was ready to go.

...
Until I see District 9,
I'd rather have Speilberg in the Directing Chair.
That man is a visionary,
and as of right now, all we have our these shorts from Blomkamp,
which are nice, but as you say, a little lacking here and there.
Here's hoping that District 9 blows me away and Speilberg gets Halo off the ground.
...
