I think the comment policy is amusing on this...no hate speech. Well you, no doubt, hate M. Night. Plus, how do you write about someone being pretentious with the comment on number 4 and think you aren't overblown and dogmatic. Critics may have been thumbs down on some of his work but he's definitely more qualified to direct a movie than you are commenting on them. Punch him? I'd rather hang out with M. Night whose arrogance consists of wanting to change the world with positive messages than a pompous, frustrated and over-indulgent attention seeking video-gamer.

Worst peice of shit, i have ever seen.
If i would cut my dick off after bashing my face in, during a portugese breakfast, it wouldn't even be close to the feeling of watching that god damn *film.

*doesn't even deserve to be called a film. I will thus call it dirt.

Everyone keeps saying "His movies after the Sixth Sense were all very bad!"

And to that, I say that all of you are entirely crazy.

The Sixth Sense sucked ass just as much as the movies that followed it. Sure the twist itself was good, but the whole thing was boring and slow, just like what all of his other movies sound like (I don't know about whether they actually were or not. After seeing Sixth Sense and Signs, I said "He fooled me twice, no more").

Even watching the trailers for these movies, it's painfully obvious that it's going to be exactly the same as all the others. Boring characters who are confused about what's going on around them try to figure it out in a boring and extremely long-winded and drawn out manner. Then comes the "surprise" twist, which anyone with half a brain has already worked out an hour or so beforehand. And in each movie, the "surprise" twist is even more obvious than it was in the last movie.

Why do people still pay money to go and watch this shit? Even this movie, the twist was so extremely obvious that they had to put together the most vague and awkward sounding trailer together just to try and keep people from guessing what was going to happen. I mean, "The Happening"?! What the hell kind of name for a movie is that anyways? Why not just call it "SURPRISE, YOU JUST WASTED 10 BUCKS!" and be done with it?

You do realize that even bad publicity is good publicity, right? Shyamalan is a decent film maker. And yes, I did the Happening, and I liked it well enough. Was it as good as his best film? No. Was it horrible? No. Was it twist-centric... I think not. Too many people either love him unconditionally or hate him for everything besides Sixth Sense. Why can't everyone just chill about him.

The Village goes in the category as this movie for me. I thought the Village wasn't horrible, although not good. It's problem was that it was hugely twist-centric, where as the Happening scores points because it's more so about the people's reactions, in my opinion.

Suck it Trebek.

Okay, here’s the deal, people.

Alfred Hitchcock was brilliant and there will never be another like him.

The Sixth Sense was legend. It’s the kind of film that most filmmakers try their entire lives to make, and fail.

If the only criticisms that people can make about M. Knight Shyamalan is that he can’t live up to (1) sheer brilliance, or (2) himself, then he’s pretty damn good.

It only proves that he's a hack that got lucky.

Also, a note about Hitchcock- there was a period in his career where his films weren't
exactly the greatest... some of his early films before Notorious in the 1940s, and also after
Psycho... His prime was in the 50s, but he also had points in his career when his films
weren't well received. Same thing with other filmmakers... including Shyamalan.

exactly the greatest… some of his early films before Notorious in the 1940s, and also after
Psycho… His prime was in the 50s, but he also had points in his career when his films
weren’t well received. Same thing with other filmmakers… including Shyamalan.

ok, sorry for my previous posts. there was no need for me to be rude...

Seriously though, Shyamalan is a competent filmmaker despite the reviews his films get.
Basically all I'm saying is that he'll continue to make films, regardless of hat the critics
and even the general public say.

Also, Shyamalan gets a lot of hate even before people see his movie. it's analogous to
the new hulk movie and Ang Lee's 2003 version. It's not like its a flop, but it definitely
didn't get the success predicted, and because of that people treat it as a flop... Same
thing with Shyamalan's films. I'm defending the filmmaker, not his film.
