Honestly, the thing that made Iron Man and the Hulk interesting movies was their human side. While Thor the psychopath is an interesting angle, Thor is actually a pretty deep story. He is a God warrior whose destiny it is to die fighting for his people. That can be a pretty interesting story depending on how you shop it. Think Matrix. Think Jesus. Think of the head job that has to play on a guy with all that power. Knowing his purpose.

I have been extremely excited about the prospect of this film. It seems to me, anyone who doesn't find Thor interesting are the same lot who think Wolverine is the best thing to hit the Marvel Universe since Stan Lee himself. Now to me THAT is a rather boring character we could have a lot less of (not Stan, Wolverine), but that's me. Whenever I hear someone say, "Thor is stupid, man..." I automatically assume they don't have a wide breadth of imagination. To my understanding, Thor WILL be an Asgardian god in the film. Not some nutjob. The majority of the film will be set in the extradimensional realm of Asgard that will have a Tolkein look and feel to it with a bit of mystic psychadelia thrown in, which makes perfect sense. Because of this, his mortal identity might not have as big a role in the film at first (Thor didn't get an alter ego till he was banished to Earth by Odin). The story behind Thor is huge and epic. The villains are powerful and deceitful. And not every friggin comic adaption out there should be about a mutant or a rich dude in a suit using gadgets.
And as Big K said "HE"S A VIKING WITH A BIG F@#KING HAMMER!" --- Nuff Said

I am very excited at the prospect of a Thor movie , if done properly it could be a winner ,as has been said it depends how the director portrays the character and how the overall movie is built around him , hopefully mistakes have been learned from the Hulk movies , the most recent one being very enjoyable and the previous movie a bit of a let down. The actor who plays Thor is a tough one and no one springs straight to mind, i do hope they dont go for an all CGI Thor though.

I think people need to take in consideration being able to act the role as Thor not just have a "the look." I have doubt in many of the suggestions posted for suggestions. However, I agree with big k Vladimir Kulich would be awesome as Thor. He has the look and played a similar role. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how well he would do as Donald Blake if the director takes the approach discussed.

Personally, I have been waiting for great adaptations to film for these marvel characters. I was impressed with Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk, RDJ and Eddy did an excellent job can't wait for them to be able to take their roles further. I can only hope they find the right actor to bring Thor to film appropriately.

This renews my timid faith.
I trust Kenneth Branagh and as long as it doesn't take the 300 approach (look nice but lack
substance) then I think we'll be fine, and since Kenny B (as I wish I could call him) can bring
humanity and substance and relatability to anything I'm excited to learn more.
