Sanders was showing signs of some advancing nerve disease, perhaps Parkinsons, and was becoming too unstable to act anymore. He had been doing voiceovers (like the tiger in Disney's "Jungle Book"), but was reportedly distressed because he was forced to sell a favorite villa in Spain he couldn't afford anymore.
