The folks over at The Australian Centre For The Moving Image conducted a really cool contest. They took submissions for the best original cult movie poster. Cult movie posters are cool enough usually, but when you get some really creative artists to create as they please…you end up with masterpieces.

Just look at what some of the judges had to say:

“But who could go past Lesbian Killer Bikini Vampire Girls? It’s the coolest Russ Meyer/Hammer Horror showdown of all-time. I gotta see that happen.”
Kat Mew, Interactive/Web Designer, ACMI

“If schlock filmmakers put as much genuine creativity into making their Z-Grade films as went into these competition entries, then there wouldn’t be a genre to send up. Seriously…. I want copies of all these feral films, preferably on 16mm, Betamax cassette or even Viewmaster stereoscope discs. Coming soon to a discount DVD retail dumper bin near you, and overpriced at $2.95….”
Special guest judge Rob Jan, presenter Zero-G, 3RRR FM

And now for the posters. Here are some of my favorites, but follow the link to see more…
