Officially Cool
Not Everything About Punisher: War Zone Sucks
Posted by Brian C. Gibson (brian@filmschoolrejects.com) on June 23, 2008
So my first impressions about Punisher: War Zone were never good. I reported awhile back that I thought when Tom Jane dropped out of the film, the project should have died right there. Anything that could come from a new film would just seem like straight to DVD junk.
As many of you know, the trailer recently hit the web. I can’t say that I was impressed our excited, but it did put a smile on my face. Our good friend, and comic book illustration extraordinaire, Tim Bradstreet was given a fun little nod in the film. As you can see in the photo below, Tim has been immortalized in the film with the set piece of The Brad Street Hotel. Tim has been illustrating the covers of The Punisher for quite some time, and is without a doubt one of my favorite artists. Just recently Tim left The Punisher, and this reference could very well be a thank you present from Marvel and Lexi Alexander. You can check out some of his art here.

I love stuff like this. For all it’s faults, I thought all the references to comic writers, artists and editors where part of what made Daredevil such s great film. Well, maybe not a great film, but a, well, a film. Yeah, ya know. - - Senseless Babble

i agree. any time that the movies drop anything for comic fans is great. the first punisher movie didn’t even stick to the original comic book origins of the character. i hope that this movie sticks to the comics and doesn’t lose the gritty feel like the first one did. i also will agree that daredevil was a good comic book film, so you’re not the only one.

Excellent that Marvel is giving props to Tim Bradstreet! I’ve been a fan of his ever since I bought comics from him at a shop in Normal IL back in the 80’s. He would be passionately doodling behind the counter- already showing signs of greatness. Congrats on his success!
