Officially Cool

Awesome Art From Tom Whalen

Officially Cool

This is one of the reasons we began the Officially Cool feature here at FilmSchoolRejects. When we come across amazing art from an amazing artist, it makes us feel all warm and tingly inside…and it makes us empty our wallets. Here are some of my favorites from Tom’s portfolio. Peter over at Slashfilm was able to squeeze out some very cool facts from the artist himself - “The art is created using a mechanical pencil and adobe illustrator. Whalen says his style is heavily inspired by Russian constructivist poster art, the design of Saul Bass, years of comic book collecting and his ‘unhealthy obsession with Japanese giant monster movies’.” If you are interested in Tom’s art, just do as I did and contact him directly at tom@strongstuff.net. You can find some more art at his deviant art profile as well.

The Comedian says:

So, very cool stuff here. I love his love for Godzilla movies too, especially the Godzilla vs Smog Monster piece. Is he selling this stuff?

Sebastian Z says:

Really cool art. I especially like his take on the Star Wars posters (no surprise there), although the Dawn of the Dead one is really arresting.

Cole Abaius says:

This guy really has a thing for people looking off to the left doesn’t he?

Jeremy M says:

Left is the new right

Drew says:

I was thinking the exact same thing Cole. I bet he has a thing for John Barrymore.

Rob Hunter says:

@ Cole, technically the people in the pics above are looking off to their right. Your mistake is noted and forgiven.
