Zooey Deschanel Joins Portman, McBride, And Franco In ‘Your Highness’

Zooey Deschanel and Natalie Portman will be coming together for the first time (or third if you count the dream I had last night) in the new film, Your Highness.

Per THR, Deschanel has joined the cast of the upcoming David Gordon Green comedy as a virginal bride named Belladonna.  The film stars Danny McBride and James Franco as two princes on a quest to save their father’s kingdom.  One brother is a slovenly and arrogant pot-head and the other is a more traditional and heroic prince figure… can you tell which actor plays which role?  Portman also stars as a warrior princess.  A very hot and beautiful warrior princess I assume.

Green and McBride have previously spoken of the film in the context of Army of Darkness and Krull… McBride once described it as ”Barry Lyndon meets Krull.”  The plan is to make it low-tech, eschewing CGI in favor of practical effects where possible, and to keep it happily R-rated.

I’m not entirely sold on McBride as a film lead, but with this supporting cast there’s way too much potential to ignore.  Plus, Green has already shown some skill melding comedy and action with Pineapple Express so hopes are high here.

Are you impressed I made it through the entire post without mentioning Zooey’s big, beautiful eyes?  And how I can see Natalie and myself reflected in them…

Wow, to be honest, I thought I was the only person who thought Zooey was more than just another actress. Good to see more men in my camp. I'm actually surprised that she hasn't become more of an 'adorable girl' icon. You know, something like Alba used to be (though I am reluctant to put Zooey on that level--I'm sure you all understand).
