Zak Penn takes on The Argonauts

Writer Zak PennZak Penn, who has co-written nearly every superhero film of the last 5 years (X2, Elektra, Fantastic Four, X-Men: The Last Stand and The Incredible Hulk), is now working on a film adaptation of the story of the Argonauts, the classic Greek myth.

The Argonauts are the band of legendary seamen who, transported by their ship, the Argo, sailed alongside Jason as he ventured to find the Golden Fleece. This story has, in previous years, been adapted into Jason and the Argonauts, among several other books/ TV series/ films.

With Argonauts, Zak Penn will add that classic Zak Penn style he’s brought to projects such as… Well, is it just me or I this guy pretty hit and miss? You have Incredible Hulk and X2, but you also have Fantastic Four and Elektra. But, my gut tells me that it was studio involvement/ poor directing that informed his failures. It will be interesting to see how this one turns out, given who directs it/ releases it…

I hope to see another really solid Zak-Penn-scripted film in the near future.

AMEN to that! Zak Penn is a pretty good scriptwriter. I wouldnt so much blame Elektra or FF on him. First of all, Elektra should never have been made...and i feel if FF had a better cast and a better director, that movie would have rocked. Its shameful how hollywood keeps tweaking with quality scripts *TONIGHT HE COMES* and end up serving us a bowl of poo *HANCOCK*
  • probably gonna suck
  • There's been a Sci-fi Channel version of Jason and the Argonauts.
