Zack and Miri Make a Porno

Last night I admitted to being too crazy busy this morning to stay up late and watch the interwebs for the Zack and Miri Make a Porno teaser trailer that dropped at around 3 a.m. local time, so this morning I feel as if I am required to make some sort of post about it.

But first, lets watch the damn thing below (As for the kids, send them out of the room. You’ve been warned):

My first reaction is that I am content in my decision to not stay up all night and wait for the trailer, as I would have probably been rather disappointed. That’s not to say that I would have been disappointed with the trailer had I stayed up just to see it. It is, true to form, very much a “teaser”. There isn’t anything new to be learned here, the two actors are not playing characters that are a stretch and it confirms that the dialogue, as with almost all of Kevin Smith’s films, will be raunchy but somehow appropriate.

With that said, I am still very excited for this film. In fact, I hold Kevin Smith up to be one of the truly great comedic writer/directors of our time — his scripts always have a level of depth to them that go unnoticed by most people, and I have always appreciated that. Zack and Miri should be no different — you just can’t see much of that from this trailer.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno hits theaters on October 31, 2008.
