‘World’s Greatest Dad’ Red Band Trailer Ain’t Even The Half of It

When I reviewed the Bobcat Goldthwait directed comedy World’s Greatest Dad — which stars Robin Williams as a father who’s aggressively assholish son dies in a freak sexual accident — at Sundance this past year, I believe I said something along the lines of “blacker than black, morbid as all hell and as sick and twisted as possible.” It is also funny, thoughtful and honest about it’s twisted subject matter and Robin Williams delivers one hell of a funny performance. One his best in recent years.

So it brings me great pleasure that today we’ve received the red band trailer for the film, courtesy of the folks at Hulu. As you can see below, it brings quite a bit of the funny — but I will also point out that this doesn’t even scratch the surface of this film’s wealth of absurdity and wit. Check it out for yourself by clicking below.

World’s Greatest Dad, which also stars Daryl Sabara and Alexie Gilmore, hits theaters in limited release on August 21, 2009.

  • How can this same man be making "Old Dogs"? It's baffles me!
  • The same way that the people behind Spider-Man 2 made Spider-Man 3.

But I will hold my reservations for Old Dogs, just because I'd like to give it a chance before it gets released.
  • Robin Williams is awesome.

A freind of mine got a screener copy of this movie the other day, and i really enjoyed it. Yes, black comedy is putting it mildly, but it's a very good film. Williams gives a wonderful performance.
Hard to believe it, but Bobcat Goldthwait is a pretty darn good writer/director.

Excellent. I love seeing actors like Robin Williams in roles I wouldn't generally expect. Definately looking forward to this.
