post_wolverine.jpgWith the news that the first installment of the Wolverine films will be shot in Australia rather than Canada, this piece of news comes as no surprise. ComingSoon.net responded to thexverse.com’s newest news about Wolverine. We have already heard that the film’s director will be Gavin Hood, and the film will be shot in Australia to appease star Hugh Jackman. The news, is that filming for the flick will begin in November.

With the film, and the inevitable buzz to follow, on the horizon, there are a few questions or speculations I’d have for the film. Many suspect the film will be one of a series, or trilogy. Which would not be a bad idea considering that Wolverine is arguably one of the most intriguing and popular of all the Marvel heroes. So how far will this film go? Will it take the Batman Begins approach and just claw at the surface?

Can fans expect to see the whole story? Can we expect to see a young James Howlett, or even a run in with Victor Creed? Will we see Logan’s ninja training, or his love affair in Japan? One speculation that I think alot of Wolverine fan’s could understand, is that we could finally expect to see Omega Red in a Marvel film. It was rumored that Omega Red would be in the third X-men film, but that obviously never panned out. When you talk about the oldest mutant in the Marvel universe, there are alot of paths that the films could take. If I were in charge, this is what I would do:

Film One: Logan

The film will begin by showing a young and sick James Howlett. The death of his father, and the appearance of his mutant bone claws cause him to be shunned from his home. He tries to make a new beginning only to suffer more loss and pain. The combination of his mutant abilities and trauma cause him to lose memories and sense of identity. He finds someone, and starts to build a life with his love, Silver Fox. Victor Creed destroys Logan’s life and forces him into a rage that leaves him defeated, and wandering the Canadian wilderness in a state of animal-like existence.

Film Two: Weapon X

Logan, stalking through the wilderness, is found by the Canadian government and is held captive to experimental procedures. Adamantium is bonded to his skeleton and he is turned into a government assassin. He and an elite task force are deployed across the world, and eventually end up in Russia to stop that country’s own super soldier experiments. Wolverine faces off against Omega Red, but clashes yet again with Sabretooth during the mission.

Film Three: Wolverine

Logan defects from the Weapon X program and finds himself in the wilderness again. He is quickly scooped up and asked to lead another program called The Flight. He gains some identity, and finds himself recognized as a leader and a hero. The events that follow with The Flight further help Logan gain control of his powers and rage.

We’ll see if Gavin Hood takes my advice. What would you do?
