Wolverine: Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool?
Movie News By Neil Miller on February 18, 2008 | (22) Comments
The buzz around X-Men Origins: Wolverine is absolutely red hot right now. Just the other day we reported that The Blob would make an appearance, only to be bested by other sites that were reporting that both Silver Fox and Stryker had been cast as well. This all follows the fact that the production got underway earlier this month with Hugh Jackman (Logan/Wolverine) and Liev Schreiber (Victor Creed/Sabertooth) on set in New Zealand.
Today the folks at AICN are reporting another name that they say will be in the final credits of the film: Ryan Reynolds. Yes, the star of Van Wilder and the recently released rom-com Definitely, Maybe will make at the very least a cameo in the film as Deadpool. In the comics, Deadpool is a Canadian mercenary with a superhuman healing power similar to that of Wolverine. He is a master assassin with extraordinary hand-to-hand combat skills and is highly skilled with bladed weapons. He is basically a mix between a starfish (that can re-grow limbs) and a badass ninja. Also, as a Canadian, he enjoys watching hockey.
Of course all of this is just a rumor at this point, just like our own Blob story, but AICN seems to be pretty sure of themselves. We will wait in anticipation for an official announcement, as Ryan Reynolds would be pretty badass in the Wolvie flick.
Sound Off: Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. You like?
