According to Variety, Will Ferrell is currently in talks to take the lead in a new David Dobkin directed comedy called Neighborhood Watch, which sounds a lot like a remake of the great Tom Hanks comedy The ‘burbs if you ask me.
The story will follow and urbanite (Ferrell) as he journeys to the suburbs, joins the neighborhood watch and uncovers a large conspiracy.
Now if this “conspiracy” turns out to be something to do with a cannibalistic cult, I’m calling bullshit. Beyond that, I see no reason why this concept wouldn’t work. David Dobkin is a solid director, having put both Fred Claus and Wedding Crashers under his belt in recent years. Ferrell, as you know, is funny. The screenplay, which is generally the x-factor in these types of comedies, comes from newcomer Jared Stern. So we’ll see.
What do you think of Will Ferrell taking a trip to the ‘burbs?
