Lol it looks like the reviewers were the only ones that weren't impressed by the movie and the general audiance (unwashed masses) liked it more.

Sorry Cole but this movie was a cut above 9/10th of the trash hollywood put out this year in terms of blockbusters. Most of the movies I went to this year I won't even buy on DVD. This one I will grab on Blue Ray the moment it comes out.

Absolutely! Sho Kosugi is AMAZING! His performance alone makes “Ninja Assassin” worth the price of admission. I was/am also an old school Japanese Jidai-Geki/Chanbara fan and always felt we were very fortunate to have someone of the caliber of Sho Kosugi, both as a martial artist and as an actor, representing and presenting the ninja and Japanese martial arts to the western world through his movies back in the 1980s. Japan couldn't have asked for a better “ninja ambassador”. :) And now he's helped do it again to a whole new generation in “Ninja Assassin”.

Fair, but Sho Kasugi doesn't make the film brilliant. The training stuff is great, but everything modern in Ninja Assassin is terrible right down to the flat, crap acting. A great idea to bring ninjas into the modern time, but it was an experiment that didn't work. A lot of flash, but not much else.

Sidenote: why did Ninja Assassin and Chun-Li demand on using Interpol (or a fictional version)? Is that a thing in ninja movies I didn't up on? Nash, out.

I hear you. I am of the old school myself, grew up on Kurosawa and the Seven Samurai as well as all his other classics. But there was always something about Sho Kasugi that lent some serious legitimacy to the film that made me like it so.

look harder Biaaaatch! i'm only kidding. on a serious tip, i'm glad you liked it. i had watched some stuntmen footage for it that was outrageous. and i liked V For Vendetta aswell, so i was really hyped for it to come out. i wish i could have enjoyed it as much as you did, but it fell flat for me. all Ninja Assassin did was make me want to watch the classic gang fight in Oldboy. don't take it personal mayne

Exactly, the original comics by eastman and laird we gritty, hard core, and were aimed at an adult audiance. Not sure how much money they gave them to whore out their creations and turn them into cheesey tripe.

Have not yet seen Ninja Assassin, but agree the spoofs degrade the ninja genre. TMNT could be great if produced like Eastman/Laird made them. Cheesy one liners sure, but graphic violence is a must for anybody that carries a blade and battles someone called Shredder. The first cartoon just messed it up from the start and doomed it to PG-friendly hell. Even though the latest movie kept the same tone, it was better than the tripe that was the live action movies.
