Corpse Bride is one of the worst of Tim Burtons films next to Alice in Wonderland. The animation was floaty and unrealistic while Selick has a knack for creating graceful fluid motions. The whole gear in the face thing was over the top and unnecessary and from what I understand a nightmare to deal with. Burtons films have become increasingly terrible with his most recent work bringing him to a new low. He did not animate for Disney. He directed. He hired animators more talented than himself to try to make his work better. He is not a master of animation and should stop trying to direct stop motion features.

Burton has denied he is involved in an addams family film.

Burton did co-direct Corpse Bride with Mike Johnson, which I thought was as brilliant as Nightmare and Coraline. That's not to take anything away from Selick, the man's a genius. But to say that Burton is incapable of making a good animated film without Selick is unreasonable. He would certainly hire an animation director to work alongside with him, as he's no stop-motion expert. Though probably more so than you and I, having produced and/or directed several such features. Plus, he did work for Disney as an animator, so he's well schooled in the ways of animation.

Burton would totally mess up the Addams Family, he tends to go over the top when the original Addams Family was more subdued.

True true true. CORALINE was one of my top 5 from 2009. Though whatever Selick has planned, I'm sure it would be much more original and captivating than another version of The Addams Family.
