Whip It Featurette: Drew Barrymore’s Austin-Set Film Has Girl Power
Movie News By Neil Miller on September 4, 2009 | (3) Comments
Fox Searchlight has released a brand new featurette for the upcoming roller derby movie Whip It, from first time director Drew Barrymore. Narrated by Ms. Barrymore herself, the featurette shows that this Austin-based film, which tells the story about a small-town Texas beauty queen (played by Ellen Page) who turns to a rebellious life as a roller derby girl, is full of girl power. It sports a great cast — Kristen Wiig, Barrymore, Juliette Lewis and Zoe Bell to name a few — and is based on what we hear is a good book (“Derby Girl” by Shauna Cross). Also, we love the sound of girls on skates beating the ever-loving shit out of each other.
