WTFever, all us geeks would pay double to see a new star wars movie. I saw “a new hope” in theater back in the 70's as a kid and would love a new story. All you haters can act like you have “nothing better than the original” street cred if you want, and if that's your attitude, then you are an absolute tool

Don't speak your opinion and claim it as fact. I liked the Star Wars prequels just fine(it was Phantom Menace that made me a fan when I was 11). The general movie going public liked them fine, especially Revenge of the Sith. It's not like we "know the truth" and are not admitting it or something. Sure there was cheesy stiff dialogue, but there was the same kind of dialogue in in the original trilogy as well. Anakin was just as whiny as his son was, but for better reasons IMO and the visual effects were way more complicated than some guy pressing buttons on a computer(which is NOT how CGI words, it does take an artist), there were more miniatures in Episode I than the whole of the OT.

The reason I love Star Wars so much is because it's a damn good story, and the mythos of it and the characters are so good. IMO, it is the one of the greatest stories ever told in any medium.

Just so we're clear, I'm not a prequel "gusher" or anything, Return of the Jedi and A New Hope are my all time favorites. =)

The most likely scenario is that Lucasfilm is planning a 2-hour theatrical-release pilot for the live-action TV series, much the same as they did with Clone Wars.

Theres been six movies and cartoon show, its enough. I friggin love Star War and im sure theres a shit ton of story to be told but let the games keep fans entertained. Minds are meant to wonder. Let em.

I would have to say that Lucas is more interested in selling toys to 6 year olds than to writing and directing any movies that appeal to his now adult audiance. He can't seem to seperate the difference in the first film he shot and aimed at teenagers and adults and the last three movies that he wrote aimed at grade school kids. Most people I know grow up, not age backwards physically or mentally.

Oh, and guess who's show runner on the live-action series: Rick McCallum, who was directly responsible for not telling George Lucas his three prequel movies were crap. So, I have about as much faith in the live-action TV show being good as I'd have in a chihuahua being a seeing-eye dog.

Given that only third-rate Cartoon Network would buy the Clone Wars animated series, though, maybe we'll end up seeing the live-action TV series on HGTV.

Look, the prequels were an unmitigated disaster -- yes, even Episode III, which was frankly not a very good movie (tried to watch it on DVD?). When will geek fanboys finally be honest: They SUCKED. There has not been a truly great "Star Wars" movie since 1980, which means that 2/3 of "Star Wars" is crap.

Now, it's a kiddie TV show that they've been successful in making the fanboys think is good ... when, in fact, it also, quite pointedly, sucks. Unless you're one of the 1,000,000 people or so who watch it every week, which is about 1/3 as many as watched an average BSG episode.

And NOW ... Lucas is still insisting on this live-action TV show so he can MAKE STAR WARS SUCK EVEN MORE!

I don't know if Lucas is doing this to make fun of the fans who made him into a billionaire, or if he is just psychologically bent on destroying what made him successful, or if he just wants to tear it down so no one else can touch it after he's gone. Whatever he's doing, he continues making a mockery out of Star Wars, and the entire way, fanboys say, "But he's GOTTA pull it out again and make it work." After four crappy movies, two crappy seasons of a crappy TV show, countless crappy videogames, and a frankly crappy "concert" tour (yeah, I went, and it was seriously stupid), I have but one question:

As someone who used to love "Star Wars" and who, 33 years later has FINALLY and completely outgrown it ... when will you guys learn?

Lucas can be involved, but I agree that he should stay out of writing and directing. He doesn't seem to like directing, and he blatantly doesn't care about writing. He's fine at world-building, he just totally forgot how to tell a story.

Of course this is moot since there will be no more movies. But the TV show sounds like it'll be handled by others, which means it could be awesome.

The only way I would even consider going to another Star Wars movie is if Lucas is not involved and in no way part of writing or directing.

Its sad when people who create a cartoon on your creations can craft a better story and plot in one 30 minute episode than you can in three movies.
