Horror has always been a genre without international boundaries.  Countries all around the world have made and enjoyed variations on traditional scary films since the first cameras reached their shores, but the past few years have seen the birth of horror films from some very peculiar countries.  Finland produced the fairly mediocre Dark Floors, Norway recently saw the release of the fairly good Cold Prey, and now Iceland is getting into the action with a slasher film of their own… Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre.

As you can see, the trailer — which comes courtesy of Twitch — doesn’t really give a very clear picture of what exactly is going on here.  It looks like a gaggle of Icelandic white trash is to blame, and it also appears to be a bit of a black comedy.  You may also have noticed a familiar face in Gunnar Hansen, aka Leatherface from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.  The official website describes the film as “an epic tale about a group of whale watchers, whose ship breaks down and they get picked up by a whale fisher vessel. The Fishbillies on the vessel have just gone bust, and everything goes out of control.”  The term ‘Fishbillies’ seems to confirm the white trash assessment…

What do you think of the trailer?
