

So far we have seen quite a lot of snarky, and sometimes humorous takes on the Writer’s Guild of America floating around on YouTube. It is encouraging to see that the writers — those who are out of work and on the picket lines — are staying in good spirits while their livelihoods are being put on hold. What we haven’t talked enough about is the grim reality of the strike, the fact that there are thousands of writers — whose names you would never recognize — who are finding themselves in a very tough spot because of the strike. In the following documentary, director Peter Hyoguchi shows us a few of the faces that we’ve not yet seen — the middle class of the WGA. The writers who stand to lose the most. It is absolutely fascinating and it comes with a resounding message: the strike is for the right reasons, and it must be resolved soon. I would urge you to dedicate 6 minutes of your time to the video below.
