WB 2008 Preview: Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla

Warner Brothers released the first part of its 2008 movie preview this week, and with it came two new images from Guy Ritchie’s upcoming flick RocknRolla. The film follows a Russian mobster who orchestrates a crooked land deal, bringing the entire criminal underground out to take a shot at the million dollars that are at stake. From dangerous crime lords to sexy accountants to petty thieves get into the mix, all playing the game to see who can get rich quick. The film stars 300’s Gerard Butler, Thandie Newton, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jeremy Piven, Idris Elba and Tom Wilkinson.

To be honest, this looks like it could be the movie that is everything that Smokin’ Aces aspired to be. Also, based on some early reviews (see the test screening reviews posted over at /Film), RocknRolla may mark the return to form of Guy Ritchie, who hasn’t really done anything worth talking about since Snatch in 2000. Ritchie also has the film Revolver, which was completed in 2005, but has just made its limited release in the US on December 7.

RocknRolla is slated for a Fall 2008 release.
