Watchmen Trailer Gets Elongated For the Scream Awards

Dr. Manhattan vs. a Tank

Nothing like writing about an adult comic at 4am to get those creative penis-joke juices going. What I really mean by that title is that last night’s Spike TV 2008 Scream Awards featured and extended trailer for Zack Snyder’s much anticipated film Watchmen. The clip features scenes from the previously released trailer — which was brilliant, by the way — with a few new shots mixed in. Among the new shots are a look at Rorschach jumping into a window and giving us his best vogue action-figure pose, which is pretty wicked. Also, we see Dr. Manhattan flying through the air and eviscerating a tank. And most notably, we get our first look at Adrian Veidt’s Antarctic fortress Karnak. Oh, and there is a quickie shot of Laurie mounting Dan — as in, a quick glimpse of the sex scene that has comic fans waiting readily, hands in pockets.

But enough talk, lets peep this footage…

Good stuff, right?

Just the long shot of The Comedian falling for what seems like forever sold me. Hopefully it actually comes out in March. Judging by the popularity, I can see a settlement in court being made not to long before the release with Fox walking away with a lot of money.

    FREAKING AWSOME !!!!! I CAN'T WAIT . WATCHMEN LOOKS SO GOOD !!!!!
  • The Comedian
omg omg omg this is gonna rock!
  • Do you realize how many 'slow motion' shots were in that preview?? Like almost every one. Just like in 300, it seems like Zak Snyder uses that technique to death. Visually, the movies are outstanding, but hopefully there's going to be room for at least a little substance. God, HOPEFULLY more than was in 300. Watchmen is such a rich material, it will be utterly shameful if it isn't explored and developed thematically as much as it deserves to, which should be at least enough to match the visuals, if not more.

I've seen the "regular" trailer in the theaters, and was blown away.

The "new" parts that I noticed in this looked terrible! Manhatten blowing up the tank looks like crap, Rorschach "leaping" up onto the window sill felt all wrong. He's the detective, torn and probably insane yes, but the one guy who doesn't have ANY kind of super powers, just his detective intuition and "clarity." Here is is leaping up onto the ledge as if he is Jet-Li in an ariel sword fight from Hero.

I certainly hope the rest of the film is better than that. If the film makers turn Rorschach into a "wire" fighting martial artist than this will be a travesty.

In the book do they ever show Rorschach's real face or is he always in that mask?
And how does the mask keep changing?
  • Here are some SPOILERS for 790's sake, but really, if you haven't read Watchmen, what are you waiting for?

They show Rorschach's face in the book, and the mask keeps changing because the material is a plastic-like cloth with ink in between. It was meant to be high-fashion.

    Thanks Cole ,,,
I havnt read the book yet because I'm waiting for the film.
At this point so close to the release date, I don't want to fall in love with the book and be let down with the film. So I'm waiting......

Thanks for the info,,, I hope they show Rorshachs face in the film,,, I love that Owl Ship "Archie" I saw that ship up close at the Scream Awards and it looked awesome.... ( I wanted to get in and fly out of here ;-)
The trailer looks great as well. !!!
