Somewhere in this montage, you will find the (probably) smiling face of our own Dr. Cole Abaius, who interviewed director Jason Reitman when he brought Up in the Air to the Austin Film Festival this past fall. He is a face in the crowd of journalists, bloggers and TV personalities who sat in front of the director and asked questions that would ultimately end up on his now internet-famous pie chart.

If you remember, the pie chart was the subject of our interview with Reitman, which can be seen right here. The video below shows what it is like from the other side, the view of a director who traveled for more than a year promoting his film. We on the other side tend to see it as a charmed life, full of first class flights and cushy hotels. But it isn’t always that, depending on studio and budget. And as you can imagine, it isn’t easy being asked the same mundane questions over and over again, hoping that your answers will earn you the coverage necessary to propel your film into the mainstream spotlight. Kudos to Reitman for surviving.

Check out the entire video below. Also, go see Up in the Air, which is in theaters now. You have my word that it won’t disappoint.
