Watch This: First Red Band Trailer For Jennifer’s Body

ShockTillYouDrop has provided our first moving pictures, known as a trailer, for the forthcoming Jennifer’s Body. It’s red band, so we’re afforded Megan Fox cleavage and a casual fuck — the word, not the act. Not only that but a message from director Karyn Kusama, writer Diablo Cody and producer Jason Reitman let’s us know that this is what the film is really like, not the horror oriented trailer bowing pre-Bruno. They explained thusly:

“Fox is putting a trailer of Jennifer’s Body in front of Bruno this Friday. Great right? Only problem is it’s not our trailer. It’s kind of a straight horror preview and while we’re sure it’ll appeal to many of you, we wanted to make sure you guys got to see our cut… Lets call it the ‘filmmaker’s cut’. We think it captures the comedy and scares of the horror films we grew up on – a kind of nostalgia for when horror films were fun. Can’t wait to show you the whole film… In the meantime, here’s the red band trailer we wanted our fans to see.”

So Fox don’t let the filmmaker’s cut the trailer then, I appreciate the honesty of Kusama and company though, and maybe it’ll become a trend for ‘large audience’ trailers and ‘film geek online’ trailers to be forever split. Good for us, bad for the audience at large who could forever waltz into films having been led by the studio hand.

The actual trailer is really rather odd. I like some of the zingers, but I’m just not a horror guy, so the whole murder segments just make me a bit worried about walking past that school down the street. The problem is, I feel avoiding straight up scary-as-shit could have marketed this to me, and the majority of the Juno crowd, with a more comedy thriller. Maybe it is though and I’m just a little sissy boy, I would like to see the horror crowds view. I fear they would be turned off by the Cody link, thereby making this a difficult film to find an audience, except with teenage boys. We’ll find out soon what way they plan to market this as the presence will undoubtedly increase as the 18th of September gets ever closer.
