amelia-header

Coming on the heels of other biopics like Ray and Walk the Line that had some serious Awards Season success, Amelia looks like a fine blend of lofty drama and the appeal that a major triumph in history brings to the table. Plus, it stars Hilary Swank who already has two Oscars under her belt. Click below to launch the video player and check it out.

Not that there’s anything wrong with being Oscar bait. The trailer is definitely a great advertisement for what looks like a movie with some real life to it. Plus, it will be the first real look at whether a female-led biopic can find the same sort of success that its male counterparts have found.

So not bad. There’s definitely a few lines with extra cheese on them, but over all it seems like a perfectly acceptable entry into the race for Statues Given To Serious Dramatic Films About Human Triumph. And now that there are ten slots for Best Picture, it sounds like it might have more than a shot at getting one of them.
