Warner Brothers has a ‘Bone’ for You

Bone ComicI am sure you all remember Bone, right? Come on, there have to be a few comic fans out there that know about the Bone family and the long running independent comic? I admit that my experience the book is rather limited, but I have to say that whenever I saw any of them, I was always entertained. Now it looks like Bone is going to reach a much wider audience. Warner Brothers has picked it up to develop an animated feature/series (no decision has yet been made past the option), reported by CHUD. This could prove to be a classic in the making. Well, maybe, so long as they don’t screw it up.

Jeff Smith’s creation has been on the animated track before. It was once picked up by Nickelodeon, but they wanted to take it in an overly child-targeted direction, which Smith did not approve of. Rest assured, he still retains creative control in this new deal with Warner and will be serving as executive producer.

Whatever happens, there is nothing but potential with either direction they move in. Let’s just hope they don’t screw it up.

i dont know how to feel about this. the series was amazing! i would want a 2 - 3 hr movie. maybe even a trilogy of 1.5 - 2 hr movies. im not sure if i would prefer a classic animation styled movie or one in cg. if it was done in cg i would def want something like roger rabbit. thats probably a bad example lol, but something with the bone family be a whole lot simpler in comparison. come to think of it i would probably prefer it done in cg. anyways something that they better not cut is the quiche loving rat monsters! also i wouldnt want to see them lighten up the dark aspects of the comic, if anything make them a little darker. but yea, ill prolly end up seeing this movie no matter what.
  • I have heard rumours for so long that I had just about given up on anyone taking the reins with Bone. I had hoped Dreamworks would have done it tho. Any word on Strangers in Paradise to pass on. That is another I hope to see before I die.
