Wahlberg to Replace Gosling in ‘The Lovely Bones’

Either his gut was too big or he was too big of an ass, but Ryan Gosling has been dropped from Peter Jackson’s forthcoming adaptation of Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones. Deadline Hollywood Daily has a few speculations as to why.

This is unfortunate for Gosling, usually when you ugly it up for a role, it spells Oscar. In fact, when you work for Peter Jackson on a modern literary classic, your name is already being printed on invites to the ceremony, but gaining a ton of weight and growing a beard Grizzly Adams wouldn’t smirk at couldn’t hurt.

Wahlberg has seen his career on the rise lately with The Departed and We Own the Night. He’s come a long way since the Funky Bunch, but can he pull off being a father figure?
